Today, we welcome Ryan Bona to Mood.
Ryan joins as Director of Business Development and Lighting Designer for our Play Studio after nearly twenty years at Walt Disney Imagineering and Universal Creative.
He served on the opening teams for Shanghai Disney Resort, Universal Studios Beijing, and Universal’s Epic Universe. His work contributed to six Thea Award-winning productions, including Outstanding Theme Park honors across all three parks.
At Walt Disney Imagineering, his work included Treasure Cove and the award-winning Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Sunken Treasure. He later joined Universal Creative as the Technical Program Manager and Production Lighting Designer, overseeing the entire lighting management team and vendors for Show Lighting at Universal Studios Beijing and Epic Universe.
After two decades inside the largest themed entertainment organizations in the world, Ryan brings a depth of experience that strengthens everything we do. But what we are most excited about is what brought him here.

Ryan believes what we believe. That lighting is for humans, embracing the emotion felt in light. That the mood is everything, regardless of the project. That story is the cornerstone of emotional memory, whether you are designing a private residence or a theme park attraction.
“We know that we are the ‘new kid on the block,’ but we embrace that association and will prove through our work and collaboration that this new kid came to ‘Play.”
In his role, Ryan leads business development across the full client lifecycle while continuing to work as an active lighting designer on projects. We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to the team as we continue to create something different in this industry.
